67. Big Red

WhitfordWaterblog Whitford, May 2009.  As I drove through the countryside, I came across this stunning sight – red water – or seemingly.  I just had to get out of the car to take a shot – even though to the right of this pic where the road is, there was major road reconstruction going on, with earthmoving machines and people holding Stop and Go signs.  They probably thought I was crazy to pull into the ditch to take a photo.  Who cares.  I couldn’t get close enough to see why the water was red, but I think perhaps some kind of river weed had taken a hold of this section of water.  Quite amazing anyway, and complemented by the beautiful autumn colouring developing on some of the surrounding trees.

16. A Thousand Feet Low

A little bay at
Mangere Bridge,
early one morning ….
But someone had been there before and made symmetrical rows of tracks backwards and forwards across the bay … most bizarre ….. Are they human tracks?
Too big for birds;  certainly not crabs …  can’t imagine what would possess someone to do this.
